Red Rose Shetland Show 2017
I can’t believe it’s already been a year since we last made the journey to Northcote Stud! Northcote Stud is based in Lancashire and is an absolute gem. The indoor arena is large enough that there are 3 rings set up- one for miniatures, one for standards and a slightly larger one to accommodate the ridden classes followed by the handler classes. b
Our set-up was very different this year taking our exhibition trailer and gazebo to occupy a corner in the collecting ring as oppose to a few tables set up at the edge of the arena! It was really lovely to once again watch our sponsored rider Grace Bateson with her pony Firle Josephine who not only won her age section in the young handler classes but also was overall champion junior handler! We were also super pleased to hear how pleased Grace was with her moneybox from Amateur of the Year Show. When we asked what colour writing Grace would like she requested ‘rainbow’. In Grace’s words the rainbow font was ‘perfect’!

Sue who organises the Red Rose Shetland Show travels all the way down from Aberdeen in order to make the show accessible for as many people as possible! The rosettes and prizes are fantastic including prize money and silverware!
There were some fabulous quality ponies forwards in all of the classes, the black standard yeld mare class was absolutely giant! There wasn’t a front or back, just a short gap inbetween each mare whilst they were walking around. A special congratulations to the Overall Supreme, the winner of the First Ridden and also the ridden champion. The Reserve Supreme was won by the winner of the driving class- a lovely black standard shetland driven to a Bellcrown. It was so lovely to see the versatility of the Shetland pony with such a variety of pairings through to the Supreme.
Below are a small selection of low resolution images from the day, feel free to use these as you wish but as always please don’t screenshot images from the gallery with a large copyright watermark on top.
At every show we giveaway a £5 voucher which can be redeemed against anything on our website; from our personalised products to prints or even a free high resolution JPEG.
Today’s winner is this combination, this young lady showed her pony beautifully today and very deservedly came section champion! I think you’ll agree these two definitely suit red, white and blue!
