Hornea Show- Day 1

Hornea Show- Day 1

Friday evening we travelled over to Hall Garth Park, Hornsea to provide the event photography for Hornsea Show hosted by Patrington Mill. Hall Garth Park is such a hidden gem- it is tucked away almost in the town centre and you barely realise it’s there! But the space and views this venue offers are just incredible and comparable to the scenery at some of the most beautiful showgrounds in the UK.

Today consisted of a dog show ring, a novice ring and also an inhand ring. The novice ring was mainly ridden classes but also had a novelty section which included a selection of classes which could also be entered inhand.

It was quite enjoyable to also cover a selection of the dog show classes and provided a little bit of a change in subject! There were some seriously cute little faces although I suspect this was a distraction technique so they could be seriously cheeky!

In addition to imaging the dog classes, we still ensured all of the equine competitors were captured as usual.

Below is a small selection of low resolution digital images from the dog show:

The atmosphere of today’s show was really lovely and encouraging. It was brilliant to see the such a large improvement in confidence in some horses and riders/handlers. In addition to this the judges also shared some of their expertise regarding ringcraft, particularly to the youngest competitors. This was a really great show to allow horses and ponies to gain some extra mileage with a few distractions without the spook-tastic county show atmosphere (noisy fairground rides etc!).

A special congratulations is also in order to the overall supremes in show. The welsh flag was well and truly flown in the Supreme where welsh ponies claimed all 3 top spots. Overall Supreme Champion was Adam (one of the youngest competitors of the day) with his totally lovely welsh pony, Reserve Supreme was a lovely chestnut Welsh Section D and 1st Reserve Supreme in Show was a very pretty palomino pony.

Pictured below is today’s winner who I think it’s fair to say was kept on her toes a little by her horse at times!:
